The Shader Lab

Overview

Most “shader packs” on the Store feel like someone zipped a folder of experiments and called it a day. Half the materials don’t light right. Half the inspectors are raw property dumps. And six months later? Crickets, no updates, no new shaders etc.

The Shader Lab is the opposite of that:

It’s a URP production toolkit built for people shipping games: surfaces that hold up in a close-up, FX you can drive from gameplay, wind that talks to a real WindZone, water that refracts, toon that outlines clean, fur that actually reads as coat, portals, blood, lava, burn aftermath… the stuff you reach for when a scene needs to look expensive without nuking your frame budget.

Every shader here was hand-crafted for in-game use, not a tech-demo one-off. Shared lighting helpers. Mobile / Balanced / Ultra quality where it matters. Master amount sliders so you can fade effects from code, Animator, or Timeline without rebaking the world. Custom Lab inspectors with foldouts, tooltips, and a Guide button that jumps straight into the User Manual.

And this pack is meant to grow. V1 is already stacked. Updates will come in, with new shaders, more tools, tighter workflows, same Lab identity as my other asset oacks, same support path. You’re not buying a dead package, but one that will grow over time.

Why this isn’t “just another shader pack:

Hand-crafted for games:

These are shippable materials — wet roads, car paint, tarp flaps, slime, glass/ice, force fields, holograms, beams, dissolve, scan/X-ray, eyes, lava, burn/char, blood, portals. Shaders you’d actually put on a prop or character, not only in a trailer.

Optimized and feature-rich:

Quality tiers strip the heavy paths when you’re on Mobile. Turn off what you don’t need. Keep Ultra for cinematic shots. Master floats (_EffectIntensity, _ToonAmount, _WaterAmount, and friends) let gameplay drive the drama at basically one float write.

Tools included:

CSPOM Map Baker. Tarp Pin Paint. Toon Outline Normals Baker. Wind Zone + Bridge. Planar Reflection. Portal Preview. Force Field Hit Pulse. Motion responders for fur and slime. Tools you open from the menu when you need them.

Part of a Lab family.

Short Fur Shells Lite and Water Body Lite live here. When you want the full coat paint / snow / groom forge, that’s The Fur Lab. When you want river/flow, wakes, underwater toolkit that's The Water Lab. Part of "The Lab Series" of assets, be sure to check them out!
